Aaiun (occupied Western Sahara), 06/17/2010 (SPS) .- The Committee for the Right to Self-determination of the Saharawi people (CODAPSO) has reported on Thursday that the prison administration in the Black Prison of El Aaiun is being out "serious" violations and abuses against the Saharawi political prisoners and human rights defenders who are Sahrawi in the prison.
The Saharawi political prisoner Kamal Dulaimi (20 years), arrested on 10/12/2009 in Smara, Western Sahara occupied, and has been subjected to confinement in a small size cell for four days receiving physical and psychological torture by the Moroccan authorities. According to sources close cited by CODAPSO, the activist has been on hunger strike to protest "the torture he had received from the Moroccan authorities."
As reported by the mother, "the effects of received beatings and torture were visible on the hands and other parts of your body." Kamal Dulaimi told his mother that during those four days he had been handcuffed and tied to a chair in an isolated place where he was tortured physically and psychologically.
Some prison officials and Moroccan authorities have used the weekend to attack the political prisoners. CODAPSO reports that this attack has been led by one "Mustafa Lbariotte", accompanied by several police officers belonging to the prison.
